Deleting your WhatsApp messages is illegal
People using instant messaging services are advised to keep a copy of all massages they have sent for 90 days or users have to face some legal issues during the 90 days period.
Goverment has published a draft online related to National Encryption Policy to seek feedback from citizens and organizations and the government has asked users opinions till 16 October. The draft contains some guidelines that will make Encryption messaging users to have second thoughts before using services like Google Hangout, Apple i-message and WhatsApp.
Its clearly mention in the draft that the steps is taken to make E-commerce & E- governance more secure and to function better and its also mentioned that business consumers can use this platform to communications but they have to follow the encryption standards prescribed by the Indian government.
What's leg shaking is that the draft guidelines listed for all the users who use Encryption services should store their personal sent messages in plain text format for 90 days and those who don't follow the procedure will have face legal procedures.
