Drishyam : Review
Drishyam : Review
Genre - Thriller
Star cast - Ajay Devgan, Tabu, Shriya
Saran, Rajat Kapoor
Director - Nishant Kamat
Music - Vishal Bhardwaj
The storyline of the movie has a fresh new touch but only if you have not seen any of the four southern versions, with the likes of recently released Tamil one staring Kamal Hasan's Papanasam but that was a full action movie unlike the thriller Indian version.
Story
The film is set on Goan countryside where vijay salganker (Ajay devgan) lives with his wife nandani (shriya saran) and two daughter Anju ( isshita dutta ) and anu (mrinal). Vijay is a school dropout but has proven himself by his dedication and hardwork, he owns a cable network business And passionate about movies, vijay has learnt a lot from the movies rather then from books.
Vijay's elder daughter anju (isshita) goes on a nature trip from school where she meets SAM the boy from other school. This is where the story gets the twist, the casual friendship with Sam turns into a nightmare for anju when Sam makes a MMS while she was taking a bath. Sam start blackmailing anju to make physical relationship with him but somehow got killed at vijay's house.
Sam is the son of Mira ( Tabu ) IG of goa and businessman Mahesh (Rajat Kapoor). Police squad goes in search of Sam and went to investigate vijay's house, vijay plots a story to save his family from the police, he tells the story that is inspired from the movies he watched spending nights in his office.
Acting
Ajay is playing a role which is just opposite to the characters that he always play in movies & feels unconnected to the character he played but his presence is always feels good on screen. Tabu who played Mira Deshmukh, IG Goa police and a mother suited in both roles. Shriya, isshita and rajat kapoor has also made their presence felt in the movie & not to forget kamlesh sawant who played a corrupt officer has done a tremendous job.
Direction
Nishat kamat has chosen a script that is more powerful than the stars in the movie which gives us the feel of a common man's lifeand keeps us connected. The story is a little slow before the interval but picks up the pace just after the break. It will keep glued you to your seat right till the end.
Verdit- Go for it
Drishyam has a good storyline with thrilling suspense which is strengthen by strong acting skills of highly experienced tabu and ajay devgan. if you want to watch a movie with your family that connects every member of the family, this one is for you.
