PAYTM owned by One97 communications, today has acquired the sponsorship from BCCI for domestic as well as international cricket games which are going to be played in india. One97 communications paid Rs.203 crore to seal the deal, which will last until 2019. There were only two bidders for scheduled 84 matches which includes all formats (T20's, Test's & ODI's) of the game.
"Ranji trophy is now formally known as PAYTM Ranji Trophy."
The base amount for every match was Rs.1.68 crore which costs Rs.2.40 crores per match at the end of the bid. The auction lasted 5 hours, held by BCCI marketing committee.
Micromax was also bidding for the sponsorship but their bid was rejected due to lack of documentations. Other then matches sponsorship the auction for TV production rights were given to Zoom Technologies with the bid amount of Rs.26 crores. Indian team's kit sponsorship deal entertain currently by 'NIKE' is ending in December and global sports goods maker Adidas has shown their interest in sponsorship, so we can expect a battle full of money between both the companies later this year.
