Movie Review : Phantom
Movie Review : Phantom
"We have seen lot of spy movies in the past which includes bond movies and Mission Impossible series, some of them are too good to be true and some of them are just not up to the mark let's see in which category phantom falls read below for full review."
Story
Phantom is all about revenge and "what they can do, we can do" theory. The story is based on syed Hussain zaidi's novel 'mumbai avengers' in which writer wrote what he think's should have happened after 26/11 mumbai attack.
The characters in the film are fictional just like the story except the characters of Haaris saeed and sabauudin Umavi which are inspired from Hafiz saeed and zakir-ur-Rahman lakhvi and totally resembles them from look to their way of talking. Saif Ali khan played Daniyal khan in the movie who is a EX-Army man, Indian intelligence agency 'RAW' appoints him for a secret operation to take revenge from the masterminds of mumbai 26/11 attack who are hiding in Pakistan and he accepts this mission just to get his lost reputation back. Diniyal gets all the information that he needed for the mission including a england vs Pakistan match ticket where Daniyal meets Nawaz Mistry played by Katrina kaif who works for Dark Water, a private organization who supplies ammunition and weaponry and Nawaz joins Daniyal just to provide information about militants hiding in London but daniyal somehow involves her in the mission.
After successfully killing siad meer and David Coleman daniyal tries to contacts Lashkar-E-Taiyaba through Pakistan embassy in london where he first denied and later contacted by ISI. ISI gives daniyal a link to interact with Lashkar's militant group in syria.
The war sequence picturized in Syria is said to have real bullets combat but that also doesn't give you edge of the seat tension.
Nawaz (Katrina kaif) helps daniyal to enter in Pakistan, where he plans haris saeed and umavi's murder which looks as an accident just like he executed the two militants murders in London in a very Bond style. Although the film is not inspired or copied from any Hollywood flick but it also dont have 'wow' factor to please us.
Acting
It felt like Saif Ali khan is carrying out his 'Agent Vinod' character in the movie as he was playing the same spy role but if you have not taken the brave decision to watch 'Agent vinod' then Daniyal will entertain you.
On the other hand Katrina kaif's character Nawaz Mistry looks just like zoya from 'Ek Tha Tiger' and the only noticeable thing of her role is her accent which was questioned also in the movie by a character just to clarify the audience why she don't talk normally and there is no room for glamour quotient in the film and Afgan jalebi's version is just opposite to what we have seen.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub's charater was the dominating one in the film as he was the one who plan's this mission from finding daniyal to picking up both katrina and saif from Pakistan border (although he only finds Katrina at international sea borders)
Direction
Phantom don't get anything from kabir Khan's previous directed films except the indo-pak relation. Kabir has not over done the dialogues and comments on Pakistan which is good to see but if main villains of the movie gets more acting chance rather than the looks with more dialogues could have made the movie more appealing.
Verdit
Phantom definitely scores on its story idea in which 26/11 masterminds gets the treatment what they deserves and that too in their own hideouts. The movie is a good masala entertainer but feels weak when compared to kabir khan's previous attempts and audience demand more from him specially after Bajrangi Bhaijaan. According to 'Vryrl' verdict go watch this one if you don't have other options it will not disappoint you much that you want to leave the movie in the middle.
