Renault starts accepting booking for much awaited Renault Kwid

French company Renault, has started the pre booking procedure for their newest product Kwid from today across india. The Renault Kwid will be the direct competition to Maruti Suzuki volume builder Alto. Renault has not revealed the price of the Kiwd but consumers can book one for just Rs. 11,000 to 25,000 & actual price will be announced in the end of September when the vehicle will be launched.

Sumit Sawhney, chief executive and managing director, Renault India said, "There has been lot of positive response from the market for the Kwid. We are officially opening the bookings of the car on September 14 while deliveries will begin during the festive period in October".

Expected to be priced around Rs.3 lakhs to Rs.4.5 lakhs is a half hatchback and half sport utility vehicle and will try to make its mark in the mid range segment which is currently ruled by Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano.

Build on a new CMF-A platform, which has been jointly developed by Renault and Nissan and Dustun, Nissan's sister brand will also use the same platform for its upcoming small car.

Taking about the Kwid specifications , the vehicle will be powered by 799CC, 3 cylinder engine mated with 5 speed manual gearbox which gives 54bhp and 72Nm with weigh around 660kgs. According to the company, all new Kwid will give best in class mileage of 25.17kmpl, if the numbers to be true the vehicle will become India's most fuel efficient petrol car. Kwid will be available in 4 varients Std, RxE, RxL and RxT. With a crossover like design & a high ground clearance, the Kwid will give the feel of mini SUV and could become one of the best in the mid range segment.
